Ruth Michels is a wonderful example of how you can enjoy the benefits of fitness AND be a healthy role model to others!!! Her dedication to her family and commitment to pursue a healthy lifestyle is truly inspiring. Recently she told me her 6 1/2 year old son Andrew (pictured below) ran his very first 5K with a time of 35:34!!! Then not too soon after while waiting in line on a trip to Disneyland, her & Garrett (4 1/2 years old) decided to pass the time doing squats!!! (Ruth held 35 lb. Garrett while she exercised!) Ruth has proven that fitness really can be fun for the whole family, and you CAN incorporate exercise into your day anywhere!!!! Read Ruth’s Fitness Story Below:
"Before having children, I was in great shape – running 10Ks, one half-marathon, and participating in two duathlons (run-bike-run). After having the second of my two wonderful little boys (the first of whom was 7 lbs., 15 oz., and the second of whom was 9 lbs, 5oz and delivered via c-section), I had no time to work out or really stay in shape. Over the course of the next two years, I began to feel sluggish and tired (and old!).
A woman at my office was training with Amber and spoke so highly of her (and had such great results!), that I thought I’d see what she could do for me. I didn’t really need to lose weight, but definitely wanted to tone up those out of shape arms and abs.
Over the course of the next two years, Amber pushed me to do things that I never thought I was capable of – TRX training, aquatic training, using medicine balls and kettelbells, Pilates Reformer – just about everything!! My workouts are never the same – but are always interesting and challenging. While still pushing me to do new things, Amber takes the time to listen and adjust my workout – whether it’s revising an exercise due to a sore muscle or changing the whole workout to accommodate a particularly bad day at the office (yay cardio!). Throughout it all, Amber has maintained her wonderful sense of humor and positive encouragement – and has become part of the family – my children now ask what exercises Miss Amber had me do, and want to exercise with me! She is truly a cheerleader, and has helped me reach my fitness goals as well as be a positive, fit, role model for my children! 'Its a beautiful thing!' :)"

“I gave birth to my precious daughter, Annie, this past December. Having her in my life has been a joy, but the weight I gained while pregnant was a bit depressing. I couldn't get myself to get up and work out. I was using motherhood to justify why I couldn't find time to work out and I was becoming complacent with my new figure. Don't get me wrong, motherhood is a big responsibility, but I have come to believe that being healthy helps you improve all areas of your life--including being a parent. A few months ago I became highly motivated to get my rear end in shape after seeing pictures of myself at a friend’s wedding. I did not look like myself at all. I knew that I didn't want Annie, or my husband Chris, to think of me this way-- As cheesy as it sounds, it was time to make a change!
My sister introduced me to Amber Owens soon after I decided that I needed to get back into shape and it has been a match made in heaven! Amber has such a passion for what she does, and I love being around her because of her positivity and motivation. I can tell that she puts a lot of time and effort into planning my workouts and helping me meet my goals. I never feel like "just another client." I have been training with Amber since June and have lost over 8 inches! She has helped me learn that eating healthy and working out is a lifestyle. I have seen amazing results with her guidance and she has made me a believer! I am not finished with my journey-- and with the help of my wonderful trainer I look forward to conquering future fitness goals. .. As Amber would say, ‘It’s a beautiful thing!’
